How Gay Cruising Apps Work
An explainer on gay cruising apps: maps, availability status, places, groups and the privacy settings that matter.
Location and the map
Cruising apps use your device location to show what's near you. The key difference between apps is how precisely they reveal you to others.
Availability
Status features like HUNTR's HUNT NOW signal you're open to meeting soon, and switch off automatically.
Places and groups
Some apps show user-dropped pins; HUNTR shows approved places only, plus invite-only groups the host controls.
Respect the space
Follow local laws and venue rules, and respect people who aren't part of it. See our community guidelines.
